Education for a regenerative future
At Agrifutures we strive to provide an engaging and interactive, project-based online learning experience.
Our flagship course is the Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC). This is an internationally recognised qualification based upon the design of regenerative production systems, inspired by the functional diversity of natural systems.
The lead tutor is Richard Pedley (MSc ecology), the founder of Agrifutures, with 15 years experience in teaching and design of educational programmes.
Our courses weave together the best concepts in building a regenerative future and apply them to meaningful projects that are designed to enhance your life outcomes.
Our goal is that you graduate from our courses empowered with purposeful knowledge that is directly applied to the development of a detailed plan and implementation strategy.
Our vision is to support the development of a positive and pro-active mind-set for meeting the challenges of the world with strategies the nurture healthy outcomes.

Permaculture Design Certificate
The Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) is an internationally recognised curriculum based on the pioneering work of Bill Mollison, that outlines the integration of a diverse range of topics from climate, soil, topography, ecosystems, design and mapping to understand the functioning of regenerative systems.
The PDC taught through Agrifutures is endorsed by Permaculture in New Zealand and provides a gateway to a career in permaculture design, understanding the design of regenerative businesses, provides a self-empowering life philosophy and provides the tools and techniques to produce a year around abundance of organic and nutrient dense food.
This design methodology was initially applied to broadacre farms and has since been adapted to suit urban design of food production systems and social groups. In each situation permaculture design explores how we can create regenerative systems where the elements of that system are selected carefully in accordance with environmental factors and interact in diverse and inter-connected ways that improve their health and resiliency.
Within this course we explore the elements fundamental to the design of a permaculture systems and how this is expressed within different types of systems. The resources within the course are based around a project that involves development of a site utilising permaculture design methodology. This may be a farm, backyard, community area, school, or similar space.
This course also acts as a gateway between permaculture design methodology and developing a new type of regenerative business. This is achieved by exploring how best to offer a service through the system you are designing. Both aspects are fully explored and applied within design tasks embedded throughout the course. By the end of the course you will have developed a detailed report for developing your site and delivering your service.
