This course investigates the science of positive psychology, which combines research from neuroscience, coaching and personal development into a scientific based guide to life-mastery.

This course investigates the science of positive psychology, which combines research from neuroscience, coaching and personal development into a scientific based guide to life-mastery.
Topics covered in this course are:
Nature vs nurture:
- We begin my exploring the role of genetics and the neural plasticity we have to effect changes in ow we show up in the world and relate to others.
- Some topics explored are the role of genes, epigenetics (expression of genes), how our environment shapes us and the extent to which we are able to make changes in our lives.
Attachment styles:
- Relationships are first role modelled through our earliest parental and sibling relationships and they go on to form the basis of how we form relationships with others.
- This topic covers the main attachment style types, what influences lead to development of those attachment styles and how to use those styles to form secure functioning relationships with others.
Personality types:
- This topic explore the work of the famous psychologist Jung and how this was populurised into the Myers Briggs personality types.
- We explore the basis of Myers Briggs, how to identify your character type and utilise this knowledge with building more effective relationships with others.
Identifying personal strengths:
- This topic explores different assessments for identifying your strengths and how to interpret this information to guide your career and in forming complementary business partnerships with others.
- We investigate the role of mentors and peer groups to support development of self.
- We explore tools for self reflection and to utilise constructive feedback from others to guide self development.
Creating vision:
- We explore creating a personal vision and how to re-enforce this through vision boards, aphorisms and, gratitude, journalling, goal setting and visualisation.
- We look at different aspects of personal success and how happiness emerges from a balanced life built upon health promoting practices.
- We look at Maslow's hierarchy of needs and investigate the pathway to self-actualisation.
Changing habits:
- Are thoughts and actions are often automatic and take a lot of self-awareness and effort to change.
- Through looking at our habits we can better understand the patterns in our behaviour which we can shape to make improvements in our lives.
- We look at the sequence of trigger, response and reward underneath habits and how to use this sequence to adopt new behaviours.
- The role of social groups and accountability to re-enforce positive changes are explored.
- We conclude by looking at what famous authors have identified as being the most important habits to adopt to initiate positive life changes.
Assessment Task:
- On completion of the topics covered within the course and the reflective activities associated with them, we guide you through completion of a personal strengths report that integrates discoveries made throughout the programme into a comprehensive and personalised guide to achieving your next steps to recognising your best potential in life.
- The assessment will draw together insights made into attachment and learning styles and personality types and create a mission statement and strategic plan.
- The mission statement creates a sense or purpose that we can target our efforts towards, while the strategic plan provides a road map of how to get there.
- Within the strategic plan we identify measures to re-shape habits and ways to create support structures to keep us moving in positive directions.
